The Edition Series for Edition No. 6 Macallan Whisky
The Macallan Edition No. 6 was inspired by the breathtaking surroundings of our distillery and warehouses, especially the vibrant River Spey that borders our land.
Tales of The Macallan River
The sixth and final release in the The Macallan Edition series, Edition No. 6 Macallan Whisky, is inspired by the renowned River Spey. Each and every barrel of The Macallan is matured before being hand-selected for usage by our professional whisky producers.
The Macallan’s chief distiller, Steven Bremner, chose each of the five varieties of casks used to create Edition No. 6 with great care. Unusual stories about the river and its environs served as his source of inspiration. The combination of American and European oak barrels has produced a flavor profile with layers of scent that lead to a gratifying, rich finish, all culminating in an eye-catching, natural rich brass hue.
The Estate is traversed by the legendary River Spey, which is known worldwide for being the home of the strong Atlantic salmon. The Macallan Ghillie is the protector of the River Spey and an advocate for the preservation of the local wildlife. A small group of people can try their luck on our 1.3 mile section of river with the aim of catching and releasing wild Atlantic salmon with Hardy’s unparalleled equipment.
There is a risk that wild Atlantic salmon will become extinct. Consequently, The Macallan is working with the Atlantic Salmon Trust to raise awareness of this and provide funding for essential conservation initiatives on the River Spey and in other locations.
A real gentleman is quiet, compassionate, and refined. A man needs to be a real person and occasionally a dirty bag, but on the other hand, I appreciate this gentlemanly manner and elegance.
The bright amber of the premium snifter gives way to hazelnut notes, but otherwise the nose is very reticent and closed in. Pleasant alcohol integration (comprehensible at “only” 43%), creamy oak tones, a hint of orange and apricot, a subsequent addition of vineyard peach, and a final hint of toffee.
With time, the nose develops a stronger fruity scent with undertones of milk chocolate and toffee. I believe I see an elderly man with a reserved disposition and lovely spicy wood tones in the glass.
gentle, velvety, and soft. Well, at first glance it appears a little flat. Apricots and mandarins tuck into the palate while toffee and chocolate meld with creamy oak tones.
The little harshness of the tongue is being eased. Not much cedar wood, not much chocolate, soft oranges and tangerines, a hint of toffee, and barely any smokey overtones. The man also has a restricted sense of taste.
